Ever thought about growing your own food?

Growing your own food is a very rewarding experience. There’s nothing like planting a seed, watching it grow and then eating the results. It’s fresh as can be, and healthy – so why not give it a try?

Whether you have an allotment, a garden, a balcony or just a windowsill, there is still plenty you can do!

Five reasons to grow your own:

  • It is healthier in terms of diet, exercise and looking after the planet
  • It is a good way to get cheaper, better food for you, your family and friends
  • It is more sustainable (less waste, less food milage and less packaging)
  • You develop a closer relationship with the seasons
  • Its enjoyable!

A project run by the Food Partnership, Harvest Brighton & Hove is all about growing your own food. From window boxes to community allotments, there are opportunities for everyone to join in. The Harvest website has guides on how to grow, information about local training courses, seasonal recipes and full details of community food projects.
