As people are becoming more health conscious, it makes sound business sense to offer healthier food options in a healthy, clean environment.

Businesses must have good standards of food hygiene and have achieved a rating equivalent to 3 or above in the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme before they can apply for the award.

The Healthy Choice Award is based on the general principles of a balanced diet and can be applied to all types of premesis.

Not everything on the menu needs to be healthy for a business to apply.

See our Catering Guidance for ideas on how to make simple changes that will save money and improve the nutritional content of the food you serve.

Benefits to your business include:

  • Free nutritional advice to help you provide healthy menu options
  • Meeting customer demand for healthier food
  • City-wide publicity of the scheme (at no cost to you), including:
    • Healthy Choice Award window sticker & award certificate to display
    • Advertising of the award scheme in local media
    • Business name and contact details on Healthy Choice Award website
    • Promotion of the scheme by the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership, including quarterly printed magazine and email newsletter reaching thousands of local residents interested in food
  • Easy to apply - our nutritionists can help you with the process
