We also run one-off skills sessions aimed to support the professional development of people working or volunteering as a community cooks or cookery teachers. Past topics have included methods of preparing and cooking meat and fish, ways of using leftover or surplus foods to avoid waste, running pick and cook events, and adapting recipes and techniques for large and small scale events. Each term, we run a Level 1 Food Safety Training as part of our Cookability course. But there are always some extra places for people who are not on Cookability but are interested in food hygiene training. The training session costs £20, which includes refreshments and a multiple choice test at the end of the session. All succesful candidates recieve a certificate which is valid for three years. We are happy to share our experience of delivering healthy eating initiatives to a wide range of organisations, including schools, toddler groups, young people, new parents and older people. The Food Partnership provides advice and support for food projects about funding, information about insurance & legal structures, and we also run an annual small grants scheme called Good Food Grants for healthy eating, cooking and growing projects. |
